These two authors have collaborated on a long standing series of aviation cartoons. This is the first in the series.

Three out of ten.

It is probably worth buying one book in this series but not this one.

My Review

On the face of it, this is a book of humourous aviation cartoons. However there are a number of catches. First of all, the cartoons are printed at a large size and on heavy paper. Secondly, a lot of the pages contain text on assorted aviation subjects. Finally many of the cartoons are not really attempts at humour. For example, there is a section detailing the author's view of the process by which assorted European countries made their decisions for the replacement of the F104 fighter.

Now, the text and the politics may be of interest to some but, do not make the mistake of thinking that you will get as many funnies as in a similarly sized Dilbert book.

The actual cartoons themselves varies between side-splittingly funny and "why did they bother to include that?"

Because of the drawbacks noted, I really cannot recommend that you go out and buy a copy of this book. If you are interested in it, find a copy in a bookshop and spend five minutes reading the cartoons. If you like them, then buy one of the other books in the series so that you get two for the price of one.
