Creperie Saint Yves

This is a nice little restaurant in the centre of Guingamp. It's less than a minutes walk from the market square and it is a great place for lunch if you are out shopping.

I paid 88 francs for a main course followed by a dessert and two (alcohol free) beers. The service was fast and friendly. The food was great with good sized portions.

I had smoked salmon with salad and crepes followed by an ice-cream dish with nougat and pistachio ice cream topped with chestnut sauce, chantilly cream and thinly sliced roasted almonds. All very scrummy indeed.

The toilets (one only - unisex) were a little grubby and the restaurant allows customers to bring their dogs along. (Well it is France) and that may put some folks off of course.

The atmosphere was quite, in fact, on a Saturday lunch-time, the whole place was quiet which was a bit of a surprise. It's not the sort of destination for a romantic evening. I was there alone and none of thecustomers had children with them so I cannot say how they would react to a three year old tearing the place up but I say again this is France and they allow dogs in so I guess it would be OK as long as the child didn't try to play with other folks doggies.

Overall then, good food, good value and a good atmosphere. Like Arnie says: "I'll be back!"
